So, I finished my TT swap, and was wanting to finish a few details, one of which was getting the TT bumper installed with the Stillen GTZ lip. I took off some awful 3M clear bra that was stuck to the bumper for years (took hours of work) and then went to a paint shop with a good rep. I painted my own engine bay with Southern Polyurethanes primer and clear, and a MetaLux base coat, but figured for the exterior a paint shop could do a much better job than what I could. So, the color looked great, but I immediately noticed orange peel. I had my nose panel with me in hand and explained to the guys that one...looked like a mirror, while the other looked like a glass cutting board. He went on to tell me that he could smooth that out of the clear coat with some additional work once the bumper is installed and I bring the car back to them. The guy who painted it went on to tell me that the paint job on his truck looks like my nose panel because he spent the time to smooth it out over and over... I'm like, okay...and so what you did on my car was half-assed then? I think basically said that the job they did is what I could do. Needless to say, I'm not happy at the moment and will be having them smooth out the clear coat like they offered.
